Outdated Operating Systems
While assisting you, our device management team may notice devices that are no longer compatible with supported Operating Systems. A technician may notify you of the issue and work with you on next steps to ensure we maintain proper security practices.
Reasons that outdated operating systems are not supported:
- Security Vulnerabilities: Microsoft and Apple may no longer provide regular security updates and patches to outdated operating systems, which may leave these devices exposed.
- Compliance Issues: Some software and systems may require the latest security updates and patches.
- Lack of Support: Many vital business applications are no longer compatible with outdated operating systems.
- Network Vulnerabilities: Devices lacking the most recent security features and updates may put our network at risk.
- Risk of Data Loss and Downtime: Outdated operating systems can result in data loss and lengthy downtimes.
Due to hardware limitations on older devices, some may not be compatible with the latest supported operating system. Devices fitting these criteria may need to be replaced with newer devices, if your primary work device is incompatible with a supported operating system, please submit a Computer Refresh inquiry here.
If you think there is a need to keep an outdated OS running for any reason, it must be vetted by our device management team to maintain security protocol. If you see a need or have questions regarding this, please submit a Ticket to our Helpdesk.
