Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Requests must be completed by the requesting Director, department head or IT Security Liaison. Once submitted, the system or information owner will then be contacted to discuss next steps.


The IT Security team provides services to help you setup Two-factor Authentication on your mobile device or use a hardware token to gain access to UT/UTC systems. When using 2FA, you are required to use two different sources (factors) to verify your identity; for example: (1) something you know like your user name and password, and (2) something you have – like a phone or passcode, to authenticate and gain access to an account.
