DASH Step Guide: Change Parent Position

Starting January 6, 2025, DASH has replaced IRIS in the UT system to house and streamline various business processes on campus.

This article aims to provide instructions on how to change the parent position in DASH.

  1. From the DASH homescreen, click the My Client Groups tab.

 

  1. Locate the Quick Actions menu on the left side. Scroll down to the bottom and click Show More.

  1. Scroll down to the Workforce Structures section and select Request a Position Change.

  1. In the search bar under Positions, enter the employee’s position number, position name, employee name, or personnel number to search. Note: when entering personnel numbers, please include the two leading zeros.

  1. If only changing the parent position, nothing needs to be selected for the “What info do you want to manage?” question. Click Continue.

  1. Under the When and Why section, enter the correct change start date and select “Position Change” as the reason for the request. Then click Continue.

  1. Under the Position Details section, click in the Parent Position field and start typing the position number or the position title of the new parent position. Choices will be populated based on the details entered. Select the correct position from the populated results.

  1. Verify the other information and click Continue.

  1. Under the Impacted Assignments section, you might see the message "The action reason you selected won't be synced with the assignment because it's not the Synchronization From Position action." It means the system won't apply this action reason to the corresponding assignments listed under Impacted Assignments. Click Continue.

  1. Scroll back to the top of the page and click Submit.
