Special Notes
- You will need to know your NetID. If you are unable to sign in, check to see if your NetID is the same as your UTC ID:
- Visit https://directory.utk.edu/
- Type your full name and hit enter
- Verify your NetID
- You will need a device capable of browsing the Internet (tablet or computer) to enroll your phone
- If you do not have a mobile device capable of installing Duo, you can request a hardware token here.

Directions to set up your account
- Visit https://ds.tennessee.edu/passwords/2famgmt.asp
- Log in with your NetID and password
- Select ‘I have a smartphone’ and ensure the box next to ‘I am ready to use two-factor authentication for UT services.’ is checked
- Select ‘Sign Up’
- Select ‘Start Setup’
- Select the device you are enrolling
- Enter your phone number and check the box to confirm your phone number is correct. Select ‘Continue’
- Select the device you are using
- On your mobile device, install the Duo Mobile app on the Apple or Google App store.
- Once the app has been installed, open it and use the scanner to scan the QR code on your screen. When the green check mark appears, select ‘Continue’
- Optional: If you would like for your phone to automatically receive a Duo push notification when you log in, select ‘Automatically send this device a Duo Push’ in the drop-down menu
- Select ‘Continue to Login’
- Select an authentication method
- If you select ‘Send Me a Duo Push’ you will receive a notification on your phone
- If you select ‘Enter a Passcode’ you will need to generate a passcode within the Duo app on your phone and enter it in the ‘Passcode’ box. To generate a passcode, open Duo and tap on 'University of Tennessee'.
