How to Connect to a Lab Stats Computer From a MacOS Computer

Software Prerequisites

In order to connect to a remote lab computer in the Lab Stats Remote Access Dashboard from a MacOS computer, you will first need to install the following two applications.

  1. If you do not already have the UTC VPN set up on your computer, navigate to https://netaccess.utc.edu/vpn/ to install the VPN client (GlobalProtect) for MacOS. Once installation is complete, connect to the UTC VPN.

  2. Next, you will need to install Microsoft Remote Desktop from the Mac App Store.

Connect to a Lab Computer

  1. After installing Remote Desktop and connecting to the VPN, Go to https://remoteaccess.labstats.com/university-of-tennessee-chattanooga and sign in with your UTC ID and password.
  2. Select the lab you wish to use on the left side of the web page as shown below (1). 
  3. Select 'Connect' by the computer at the top of the list (2).

  4. You will then see a prompt to download a file to connect as shown below. Click 'Download'. This will download an RDP file to your default download folder. 


     
  5. Open the file that you just downloaded. You will be prompted as shown below. Enter your UTC ID in the format cha\abc123 and your UTC password.
     
  6. Click 'Continue' on the next two windows as shown below.




     
  7. You should now be connected and logged into the lab computer.
