Body
There are two options for moving your Google content:
Option 1: Transfer files and email to a personal Google Email account:
** Note that only some content can be moved using Option 1.**
- Log into https://takeout.google.com/transfer with your UTCID@mocs.utc.edu email address, then if prompted enter your UTCID and UTC password.
- Enter a destination Google account.
- Verify the account by entering the code sent to the destination email.
- Select the data you wish to copy and click Transfer.
Process Details:
- The copy process usually takes a few hours, but can take up to a week depending on the amount of content.
- Copied files may appear in batches in the destination Google account during the copy process.
- When the process is complete, you will receive a confirmation email to your personal Gmail account.
- Viewing Copied Files
- Gmail: Copied Gmail content will appear with a label containing your MocsMail account name and the date you started the copy process.
- Drive: Copied content will be in a folder labeled with your MocsMail account name and the date you started the copy process.
- What is different about copied files:
- You automatically become the owner of all copied files on My Drive. The owners of the original files will remain as-is at UTC.
- Copied files are not shared with others even if the original files are.
- Comments are copied, but revision history is not.
Option 2: Download a copy of all your content:
-
Log into https://takeout.google.com with your UTCID@mocs.utc.edu email address, then if prompted enter your UTC ID and UTC password
-
Select what types of data you wish to keep and have exported. Drive, Mail, and Photos are the common types.
-
Choose your Destination for where the files will be exported to
-
“Send download link via email” sends the files as compressed folders
-
“Add to Drive” sends the files to a different, non-UTC Google Drive (please note, free Gmail accounts are only allocated 15GB of space)
-
“Add to Dropbox” sends the files to a Dropbox account (you will need to log in with your Dropbox credentials to connect to the right account)
-
“Add to OneDrive” sends the files to a Microsoft account’s OneDrive (you will need to log in with your non-UTC Microsoft account credentials to connect to the right account)
-
“Add to Box” sends the files to a Box account (you will need to log in with your Box credentials to connect to the right account)
-
Select your Frequency (we recommend only exporting once)
-
Select your File Type
-
Select your File Size
-
Export your files
-
If you linked accounts to a different service (such as Dropbox or OneDrive) you will be prompted to sign into that account
-
The export will begin as soon as you finish signing into the separate account
-
The export can take a long time, up to a few days depending on the size of your data
