Email Routing Change: March 18, 2026

Information Technology will be performing maintenance on the UTC Google Workspace tenant on the evening of Wednesday, March 18, 2026, during spring break, as part of Phase 1 of the upcoming migration of services from Google to Microsoft.  This maintenance will move the entry point for all email for the mocs.utc.edu domain from Google to Microsoft to allow for migrations of Fall 2026 student accounts to begin.  Visit the IT Status page for information and updates on the scheduled mail outage for March 18 & 19.

Google Account Access after March 18, 2026

  • New students accepted for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 will see the following changes:
    • Accounts will be migrated from Google to Microsoft for email, collaboration, and productivity tools.
    • All new and prior email will be available in Outlook at https://outlook.cloud.microsoft/mail/.

 

  • Students enrolled in Spring 2026 and Summer 2026 will see little to no changes at this time: 
    • Access to your Google account for email, collaboration and productivity tools will remain at this time. For more information on the future of the Google apps, visit our knowledge base as mailbox migrations are expected to begin this summer. 
    • Email will be automatically forwarded from Microsoft to Google so that mail delivery remains the same at this time.  If you are working for or enrolled as student at UTM, UTK, UTHSC, UTSouthern, etc. you may see all your mocs.utc.edu email delivered to your Microsoft account after March 18.

 

  • Faculty and Staff with accounts in Google will see the following changes:
    • New email will be delivered to Microsoft Outlook as the email platform for all UTC employees. Please plan to check Outlook for any new emails or to send any emails.
    • Access to your mocs.utc.edu account will remain available to view prior emails, calendar, and utilize applications like Drive, Sites, Analytics, and Classroom. For more information on the future of the Google apps, visit our FAQ Faculty and Staff: Transitioning from Google
    • Migrations of existing mailbox and calendar items will begin later in March and continue throughout the summer. More information on the migration process is available in the FAQ above and no action is needed at this time.

 

  • Departmental accounts are being evaluated and handled individually. If you are currently access Google with shared department email, contact us at ITHelp@utc.edu for more information.
