What is the Mocs Card in Apple Wallet?

Mocs Card in Apple Wallet is an initiative of the Mocs Card office whereby your iPhone and Apple Watch can take on the functionality of your Mocs Card. Anywhere you can swipe a card, you will be able to use your iPhone or Apple Watch.

 

What do I need to get started?  

  1. iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus or later running the latest version of iOS
  2. Apple Watch Series 1 or later running the latest version of watchOS
  3. Apple ID signed into iCloud
  4. GET Mobile app from the App Store
  5. Your University of Tennessee (UT) NetID, password, and access to a device that is setup to access your UTC Two-Factor Authentication (DUO) verification.
 

How do I add my Mocs Card to Apple Wallet?

Ensure that you have an approved photo on file. If you are not sure if you have an approved photo, please visit the Mocs Card Office’s page on how to view and submit a photo.

  1. On your supported device, download the GET Mobile app from the App Store.
  2. Open GET Mobile from your iPhone and choose University of Tennessee at Chattanooga from the dropdown list.
  3. Log in using your UTC credentials, and then complete the DUO authentication.
  4.  Select the Add to Apple Wallet button. Then select whether you would like to add the Digital Mocs Card to your iPhone or Apple Watch. You may add the ID to both device types.
  5. Agree to the Terms and Conditions.
  6. The ID will now be available in your Apple Wallet. You do not need to keep the GET Mobile app to use the functionality of the Mocs Card.

How do I verify my Apple Watch device version?

The Series # for your Apple Watch can be found on the back of the Watch. Note: Series 0 Apple Watch is not eligible for this program.

On how many devices can I use my student ID in the Apple Wallet?

You can use your student ID card on up to two devices (one iPhone and one Apple Watch) that are signed into iCloud with the same Apple ID.

What happens if I lose my iPhone or Apple Watch? If I find it afterwards?

You should use Find My iPhone to suspend or deactivate your Mocs Card in Apple Wallet. Instructions for Lost/Found Apple devices and Find My iPhone are located at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201472

  • During Mocs Card Office hours (8:30 AM to 4:30 PM) contact the Mocs Card office at 423-425-2218 to notify us to deactivate the card in the Wallet for that device. You can also flag the iPhone lost via the Mocs Card website, https://get.cbord.com/utc.
  • You can reactivate a found device that was suspended via iCloud.com or contact the Mocs Card Office during business hours (M-F, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm) if deactivated by the Mocs Card Office.

 

What happens if I get a new iPhone or Apple Watch?

  • You should first remove your pass from your old device in the Apple Wallet app
  • Once your old pass is removed, you can add your pass to the new device by using the GET Mobile app.  

 

Why can’t I double-tab the home button or side button when my iPhone is locked to see my Mocs Card balances in Apple Pay?

When using Express Mode (iPhone 6s or later), your Mocs Card will not be displayed with other cards in Apple Wallet for security reasons.

 

Can I use Apple Student ID if my iPhone has a dead battery?

On iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, and more recent Express Mode with power reserve is available for up to five hours after the device’s battery needs to be charged.

 

Can I use Mocs Card in Apple Wallet without cellular signal?

Mocs Card in Apple Wallet can be used even if iPhone or Apple Watch does not have network connectivity, as the Mocs Card is stored on your device. If you are having any difficulty using your Mocs Card to complete a transaction, report any issues to the Mocs Card Office at mocscard@utc.edu or call 423-425-2218 so we can investigate.

 

Does it cost anything? 

There is no cost to use your student ID card in Apple Wallet.

 

Do I have to have a photo? 

Yes, an approved photo is required for eligibility.

 

Is this just for students? 

Faculty, staff, and students are eligible as long as they meet all device and software requirements. 

 

I have my iPhone and Apple Watch set up. What if I lose one of them? 

Your other device will continue to work; however, you should mark the missing device as lost on icloud.com until it is found.

 

How do I use Mocs Card or Mocs Bucks on my account from my phone?

The same way you have always used your plastic card -- simply tap the reader with your phone instead of your card.

 

Will it work with off-campus merchants?

Yes, you can use your Mocs Card in Apple Wallet at off campus merchants where your Mocs Card is accepted.
