Connect Your Alexa Device to the UTC Network

Directions (on another device - computer/phone)

  1. Open your preferred web browser to: https://portal.utc.edu/registration/

  2. Select 'Students, faculty, staff, or affiliates with a UTC ID'

  3. Sign in with your UTC ID and Password

  4. Select 'Media Player'

  5. In the Device Type drop down field put 'Amazon Echo/Tap'

  6. In the ‘MAC Address’ field, enter the device's MAC address (ex. AA:11:A1:FF:99:F9)

  7. In the "Phone" field, enter a phone number

  8. Select ‘Submit'

Find Your Echo's MAC Address:

Note: If you are setting up your Echo for the first time, the MAC address can be found on the screen where you are asked to connect to a Wifi Network during Setup.

To find the MAC address of an Amazon Alexa, you can use the Alexa app on your smartphone or tablet. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the Alexa App:

    • Launch the Amazon Alexa app on your smartphone or tablet. (If you don’t have it, download it from your phones app store.)
  2. Go to Devices:

    • Tap on the “Devices” icon at the bottom-right corner of the app.
  3. Select Your Device:

    • Under “Echo & Alexa” select the Echo device you want to find the MAC address for.
  4. Go to Device Settings:

    • Tap on the device name to open its settings.
  5. Locate the MAC Address:

    • Scroll down to 'About' or 'Device Information'.
    • The MAC address will be listed there under 'MAC Address'.
