Types of Printers Supported and Recommended

Laser Printers (Preferred)

We strongly recommend using laser printers due to their reliability and efficiency. They are a more cost-effective solution for high-volume printing and consistently deliver better performance.

Inkjet Printers (Less Preferred)

While our primary focus is supporting laser printers, we offer limited, best-effort support for inkjet printers.

Support Scope

Connection Issues

Our Central IT team provides assistance exclusively for connection-related issues, including USB and wired Ethernet connections.

Hardware Issues

We do not perform hardware repairs. For major hardware-related problems, users should contact a supported vendor. A list of approved vendors is available upon request.

Network Connectivity

Printers are not permitted to connect to the UTC wireless network. Only wired connections are supported.

Connection Guidelines

Office Spaces

Users are preferred to connect their printers via a direct USB cable connection.

Departmental Printers:

For smaller departmental printers, connections via a wired Ethernet connection are permitted. These printers must be registered and assigned a DNS name by the IT department to maintain network security and accessibility.

Full Departmental Printers:

For big print jobs, we prefer that departments reach out to Auxiliary Services for MocsPrint/Canon options.

Printer Connections & Support:

IT Technicians are available to assist with printer driver installation and verifying printer connections via USB and Ethernet. For additional support, users may contact the IT department for troubleshooting and setup assistance.

Printer Recommendations & Quotes

Our IT Device Management Team would be happy to recommend and provide quotes for office printers that best fit your needs, based on our expertise and environment. We strongly encourage you to reach out for a tailored recommendation and quote.
