The Information Technology department will be contacting faculty and staff throughout the summer to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11.  To make the process as convenient as possible, we are providing two appointment methods.

Option 1: Appointment - IT Solution Center

Devices: Laptops and other portable computers

Employees may schedule an appointment in our IT Solutions Center in Maclellan Gym by visiting http://go.utc.edu/itsolutionsappointment.  Appointments can be made up to 45 days in the future.  Once you have booked your appointment, you will receive a calendar invite with additional steps to prepare for your appointment. Please allow an hour and half for your appointment. During that time you are welcome to drop off your device with us or stay until the migration is complete.  We will have loaner devices on hand to allow you to continue to check email or join meetings while you wait.

Before your appointment time arrives, please complete the following items:

• Ensure that you have backed up all your files with OneDrive, instructions for which can be found here. 
• Make a list of any special software that you may have installed on your computer. 

During your appointment:

• Check in at the front desk in the IT Solutions Center, Maclellan Gym Room 201.
• Pre-Upgrade Checklist: IT staff will review your device with you to ensure that it can be migrated.  During this process we will make note of any software that will need to be reinstalled and ensure that your documents and files have been backed up to OneDrive. Once we have completed the pre-upgrade checklist, you may leave your device with us and check back in about an hour.
• Upgrade: During the upgrade to Windows 11 and migration to Intune, we will be reinstalling the operating system and configuring it to receive updates going forward. This process typically takes about an hour.
• Post-Upgrade Steps:  Once the upgrade and migration has been completed, IT staff will work with you to reinstall any software, configure the device for your needs, and sync your data with OneDrive.

After your appointment: If you need assistance or have questions about the upgrade, please stop by the IT Solutions Center or contact us at 423-425-4000. 

 

Option 2: Department In-Person Visit

Devices: All computers including desktops

IT staff will also be rotating through each campus building this summer to assist with migrating any desktop computers or devices that don't have an IT Solutions Center appointment yet.  Notices will be sent out to departments at least a week in advance with the dates that we plan to visit that building.  If you are unable to migrate your device during that time, please schedule an appointment with the IT Solutions Center instead.

Before the planned IT visit to your department, please complete the following items:
