Transition to Outlook
UTC is in the process of transitioning accounts from Gmail to Microsoft Outlook for email as part of the Google to Microsoft project. Currently, Outlook will be where all new Fall 2026 students and faculty and staff check their Microsoft email.
We have included instruction below to assist students with accessing their Outlook mailbox using their Microsoft username. When accessing Outlook using netid@mocs.utc.edu you may need to use the advanced setup to configure your account and select Microsoft 365.
How to Access My Microsoft Account
- Locate your Microsoft username in the "Account Info" widget in your MyMocsNet account. It will typically be your NetID@mocs.utc.edu. If you have applied or attended another UT campus your Microsoft username may be different. To request changes to the username to update it to mocs.utc.edu, visit utc.edu/upn.
- Access the Microsoft Outlook app at outlook.office.com to sign in with your Microsoft username and UT password. Outlook is always available to download in the app store for your mobile device.

Login to Outlook on the Web
1. Access the website https://outlook.office.com/mail/.
2. Enter your UTCID@mocs.utc.edu email address.
3. A UT System login screen will appear. Enter your UTC password.

4. A DUO prompt will appear. Access your DUO mobile app and complete the prompt to gain access to Outlook.
5. Once the DUO prompt has been completed, you should have access to your Outlook account.
Login to Microsoft Outlook Phone App
1. Open the Microsoft Outlook app on your mobile device. Your screen should appear as shown below. Select Add Account.

2. Once the account is found, two options will appear on the screen. Select Skip.

3. Enter your UTCID@mocs.utc.edu email address, then select Add Account.

4. Select the Microsoft 365 option.

5. Finally, enter your password and select Sign In. You should now have access to your email.

6. After completing the DUO prompt, you should have access to your mobile Outlook account.
Login to the New Outlook desktop app
If you do not see the Suggested Accounts screen:
1. Enter your UTCID@mocs.utc.edu email address.
2. A UT System login screen will appear. Enter your UTC password.
3. A DUO prompt will appear. Access your DUO mobile app and complete the prompt to gain access to Outlook.
4. Once the DUO prompt has been completed, you should now have access to your Outlook account.
If you have a Suggested Account, follow these steps:
1. If you have previously accessed Microsoft applications on your device, you may see a suggested Microsoft account as shown below. Select Continue:

2. You may be led to a screen like this one below. If this is the case, select Cancel. Do not try to sync it up to Gmail.

3. This will take you back to the previous screen, now with more options. Select Advanced Setup in the bottom right corner.

4. Select Advanced Setup will open this screen. Select Microsoft 365 at the top.

5. Outlook may take a moment to sign you in. Give it a moment, and you will be automatically logged in.
Login to the Outlook Classic Desktop App
If the UTC CAS Sign-In screen appears, it is trying to log you in through Gmail. Go back to the login screen, as this will fail.
Below is the UTC CAS Sign-In

1. If Outlook Classic is requiring Gmail syncing on sign-in, enter your UTCID@mocs.utc.edu email address, select Advanced Options, and then select the box that says "Let me set up my account manually."

2. Under Advanced Setup, select the Microsoft 365 option.

3. THIS STEP IS OPTIONAL. You can cache any amount of emails on to your computer if you want to read them while your device is not connected to the internet. If you want to cache emails, adjust the time to your liking. If you do not want to cache emails, uncheck the box and select Next.

4. Your account has now been added! Optionally, uncheck the box at the bottom that says "Set up Outlook Mobile on my phone." Selecting Done should start the loading process of your account.
