Introduction
Security is paramount to us and we believe in going the extra mile to keep our systems airtight against all vulnerabilities. We hope you share the same spirit and don’t mind following these extra steps when logging in for the first time using your Research Institute account to a workstation.
Research Institute users can access their account using any of the Research Institute workstations or via Secure Shell (SSH) on the clusters.
Please make a note of our password policy, as it will be important when setting new passwords. Resetting your password after the first login is no longer required. Please check this article for the password policy and instructions to change your Research Institute password.
Getting New User Accounts
If you don't have an account with us already, please open a ticket with the details mentioned below and we will get you registered as soon as we can.
- Full name (first name and last name)
- UTC ID (6-character alphanumeric ID assigned by the university)
- Email address
- Name of SimCenter affiliate collaborating with
You can open a ticket by emailing utcri-help@utc.edu or by submitting a ticket through the IT Client Portal.
Logging in through SSH
Please check out how to connect your device to the UTC VPN if you are trying to connect from outside campus.
Follow the following steps to log in through SSH:
- Connect to the cluster (epyc.simcenter.utc.edu) via SSH:
ssh <your_simcenter_username>@epyc.simcenter.utc.edu
Note: Your SimCenter username is NOT the same as your UTC ID.
- Enter your password
- If entered correctly, you should now be connected.
