Connect Your Android Device to the UTC Network

If you are being asked to re-register your device every 24-48 hours or every time you connect to the UTC WiFi, please click here for instructions on turning off the randomized MAC address for your device.

Directions

  1. Open ‘Settings

  2. Select ‘Wi-Fi

  3. Select the 'UTC’ network

  4. Turn off 'Device MAC Randomization', Click Here for assistance

  5. Open your preferred web browser to: https://portal.utc.edu/registration/

  6. Select 'Students, faculty, staff, or affiliates with a UTC ID'

    • Please note: if you are a sponsored guest please see this article, and if you are another campus guest please see this article.

  7. Sign in with your UTC ID and Password

  8. Select 'Computer/Phone/Tablet'

  9. Under the ‘MAC Address’ field, enter the device's MAC address (ex. AA:11:A1:FF:99:F9)

  • The UTC network may automatically detect your device’s MAC address

  1. Select ‘Submit'

 

Troubleshooting

“I do not know my MAC address”

  1. Open ‘Settings
     
  2. Select 'About Phone'
     
  3. Select 'Status'
     
  4. Locate 'Wi-Fi MAC address'

 

“I am unable to access the UTC portal page”

  1. Open ‘Settings
     
  2. Select ‘Cellular Data
  • ‘Cellular Data’ might be named ‘Data Usage’ or ‘Mobile Data
  1. Turn Cellular Data off
     
  2. Attempt the directions again

 

“It says my MAC address is not valid”

  1. Open ‘Settings
     
  2. Select 'Network'
  • 'Network' might be named 'Connections'
  1. Select the gear icon for the UTC network
     
  2. Switch the 'MAC address type' from 'Randomized MAC' to 'Phone MAC'
     
  3. Reload the web page and try again
